 BIOCHEMISTRY DIVISION
The functions of Biochemistry division are as follows:
1 Teaching Biochemistry to various post graduate and post diploma courses on Alcohol Technology, Sugar Technology and Sugar Engineering
2 Research in Biochemical aspects of sugar manufacture and industrial fermentation processes including treatment of sugar factory & distillery effluents and byproduct utilization.
3 To render technical advice to sugar and allied industries in their problems related to Biochemistry , particularly to fermentation, waste treatment and byproduct utilization

The department has expertise in setting up effluent treatment plants in distilleries and has set up one such plant at SKG Distillery Lauriya, Bihar
