| BIOCHEMISTRY DIVISION |
The functions of Biochemistry division are as follows:
| 1 |
Teaching Biochemistry to various post graduate and post diploma courses
on Alcohol Technology, Sugar Technology and Sugar Engineering |
| 2 |
Research in Biochemical aspects of sugar manufacture and industrial
fermentation processes including treatment of sugar factory &
distillery effluents and byproduct utilization. |
| 3 |
To render technical advice to sugar and allied industries in their
problems related to Biochemistry , particularly to fermentation, waste
treatment and byproduct utilization |

The department has expertise in setting up effluent
treatment plants in distilleries and has set up one such plant at SKG Distillery
Lauriya, Bihar
